EV DIAGNOSTICS & MAINTENANCE PART 2

In this training, we will cover HV air-conditioning, diagnostics, servicing of R134a aircon and heat pump systems, including regenerative braking, wheel alignment and stability control and its effects on HV battery performance. Lastly, you'll get hands-on with the power distribution module (PDM) and how it works for understanding diagnostics.

Online Training

braking system that can recapture much of the car's kinetic energy and convert it into electricity, so that it can be used to recharge the car's batteries. This system is called regenerative braking..

COURSE ID: EV2-2
DURATION: 2 DAYS

Prerequisites: It is prefered that you have completed Hybrid/EV Diagnostics (EMS1-4) or EV Diagnostics & Maintenance Part 1(EV2-1)

Quick Overview

Comprehensive Overview

Live data used in Scan Tool - Level 2 training

HVAC
Within this training, we will cover the relation between PTC heater and heat pump and study air and refrigerant flow diagrams.  We look at common faults including UV dye specifications and what is required for HV AC systems. A full HVAC service is covered step by step as well as analysis of the LIN bus control of the HVAC system.

PTC
We’ll teach you about the cooling and heating system; we look at Gen1 and Gen2 PTC heaters in detail, their control system and common faults. We also look at the power distribution module (PDM) PTC control circuit and simple repairs inside the PDM.

Coolant Pumps

We look at levitating coolant pumps and their control/feedback systems, we’ll show you how to measure and diagnose problems.

Efficient Driveability

We’ll look at the importance of wheel alignment and stability control; We’ll share about the proper understanding of grip, via wheel alignment to stability control in an EV. We’ll look at all aspects. Firstly, from an EV battery SOH and SOC perspective, then from a diagnostics perspective.

EV Diagnostics & Maintenance

Alignment

We cover toe (toe-out on turns), camber, caster, set back and trust angle adjustments and effects on the drivability of the vehicle and the effects on the stability control systems. Including a look into the values and angles with a 3D alignment system or better. In the stability control section, we will look at the G-force sensor function and calibration, in combination with the steering angle sensor and ABS sensor’s functions.

Calibration

We will take a look at live data recordings of faulty calibrated vehicles and the effects of the calibration on the regenerative braking system and extra energy consumption.
